Quasi-3-D spectral wavelet method for a thermal quench simulation

چکیده

The finite element method is widely used in simulations of various fields. However, when considering domains whose extent differs strongly different spatial directions a simulation becomes computationally very expensive due to the large number degrees freedom. An example such domain are cables inside magnets particle accelerators. For translationally invariant domains, this work proposes quasi-3-D method. Thereby, 2-D with nodal basis cross-section combined spectral wavelet longitudinal direction. Furthermore, and an adaptive time-dependent resolution presented. All methods verified. As hot-spot propagation quench Rutherford simulated successfully.

A Fast Immersed Boundary Fourier Pseudo-spectral Method for Simulation of the Incompressible Flows

Abstract   The present paper is devoted to implementation of the immersed boundary technique into the Fourier pseudo-spectral solution of the vorticity-velocity formulation of the two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The immersed boundary conditions are implemented via direct modification of the convection and diffusion terms, and therefore, in contrast to some other similar ...

Quasi 3-D Simulation of Quantum Well DFB Lasers

A quasi-3 D simulation for quantum well (QW) distributed feedback (DFB) laser diodes is presented. Longitudinal effects such as the nonuniformity of the optical intensity, local gain and spontaneous emission are considered as well as lateral effects such as current spreading and quantum carrier capture. The simulation is performed by solving several 2-D cross-sections using Minilase II and a 1-...

Spectral method for thermal conductivity calculations

We discuss several post-processing issues in molecular dynamics (MD) calculation of lattice thermal conductivity using the Green–Kubo formula. For crystals with high thermal conductivity such as SiC, converting the MD raw data on heat current fluctuations into thermal conductivity result is non-trivial. One can accelerate the process using Fast Fourier Transform and the spectral method. A few m...
